No Better Time to Get Serious about Losing that Weight -- December 1, 2007
Welcome to my website. Today is our first day! It's a great day to start. I thought about starting on January 1st as people are ready to make New Year's Resolutions again, but that leaves the whole month of December to either gain weight, hold steady, or lose. December is probably the hardest month to diet, but think about how it would feel if you lost just 5 pounds. On the other hand, if you gain 5 pounds, then you are 5 pounds up from where you are, but 10 pounds up from where you could have been on January 1st. I know you want to lose those 5 pounds this month, and I want to help you.
The first step in losing weight is
getting motivated. I'm sure many of you have gotten motivated time after
time.
The second step is selecting a workable plan -- food intake & exercise.
The third step is being able to evaluate and modify your plan if it is not
bringing results. (If you cheat on your plan, you can't tell whether it's
working.)
And the fourth step is staying motivated!
While we will talk about the first three steps, my primary interest is in helping you stay motivated. I want you to have a place to share your struggles and successes with fellow dieters. To ask questions. To share what is working for you. To encourage each other. I will open this page each new day with an encouraging little vignette. I will also add assignments, so it will be a bit like diet school. Through this forum, you will interact with me and with each other.
I will password the forum to keep it as clean as possible. I will need to change the password from time to time. I will post the current password on YouAbsolutelyCan.com/password
There is a $10/month fee for subscribing to this site. You know that's not much if you jump in and use the site regularly, and it helps you stay motivated. I am trying something unusual. So let's begin. Your first assignment is to introduce yourself. If you don't want to use your real name, pick a name you like and stick with that. Words of encouragement might mean more, though, if they are directed to your real name. Tell us your gender, your approximate age, your current weight, your goal weight, and your successes and failures dieting. Tell us if you have family, what kind of work you do. Tell us whatever you want about yourself, but let us get to know you. Just click on the Introductions thread on the left.
